"VINCENT" AT COMPASS THEATRE

As part of its continuing development the captivating new musical ‘Vincent - Prisoner of a Dreamwas staged at Compass Theatre & Arts Centre in Ickenham, Middlesex, U.K. to sellout audiences.
The musical, which has been written by Neil Keveren and Christopher Skornia, is a fascinating sung-through story that takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This brand new work is based on key elements in the life of the troubled artist Vincent van Gogh and with strong melodies and passionate performances it provided the spellbound audiences with a truly unforgettable show to which they responded with standing ovations.
‘Vincent’ workshop performances have been taking place, including a rehearsed reading at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London (more details in other "News" items below), and the aim was to build on the success of those events and produce, in conjunction with the Compass Theatre, a fully staged version of the show.
Auditions were held at the Compass Theatre and we were very pleased with the high standard of applicant and so proceeded to organise call-back auditions to get a better idea of who would suit which role.
We ended up with the perfect cast of young professionals who, after much hard work, excelled themselves when it came to the week of the performances achieving sold-out shows and standing ovations.

"VINCENT" RECITAL AT R.A.D.A.

There was a rehearsed reading of "Vincent - Prisoner of a Dream" at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Four extracts from the musical were performed by graduates and students from RADA.
We are very pleased to report that the evening went very well. With a large audience in attendance it was standing room only. The four sections from the show took the audience through key moments in Vincent's life and, whilst leaving them wanting to see more from the show, we allowed sufficient time on each section for them to be engrossed by the very moving individual performances. The uplifting choral arrangements of the ensemble pieces provided balance and contrast.
Musical Director Tom Wakeley had worked the RADA cast very hard on the previous rehearsal days and it was remarkable to see what could be achieved in such little time. It was mostly a choral performance, on book, but it proved that with the wonderful talent of the actors, one piano and strong melodies, amazing things are possible as everyone was very enthusiastic in expressing to us that they had witnessed something very special that night.
We were very worried at one time that Andrew Lloyd Webber was going to pinch our Gauguin for "Woman in White" at the last minute but we're pleased to say that RADA graduate Jeremy Finch was able to make his call-back auditions for Sir Andrew and still catch up with us at the final rehearsals in order to stay involved with our production.

We made live recordings that go some way in capturing the feel of the evening and extracts can be heard on the Music page.

We would like to thank everyone involved for their much-appreciated contribution to the continued development of "Vincent - Prisoner of a Dream" and wish all the RADA graduates and students the best of luck in their careers. We look forward to seeing them all on stage and screen in the future as they become household names!

"VINCENT" WORKSHOP

We were fortunate to work with the Richings Players of Buckinghamshire UK who gave us weeks of their time and energy assisting us in workshopping "Vincent - Prisoner of a Dream", which included a packed public performance. With their help we were able to take the show to new levels that we couldn't have achieved on our own. We give them our sincere thanks and wish them great success in their future productions.
